#CrysTips: My Top 5 Personal Style Tips

"Styling and helping women is my absolute passion in this life
What motivates me to do it is seeing the smile on the client's face when they see the final results. It gives me great joy knowing that I am able to be a solution to the fashion needs of others."
-Crys Quote

Sunday, I had the pleasure of working with MUA,
Urban Glam Gyrl
and Nail Artist,
Lipstick Mixtapes,
for the Glam Lounge of the Beauty-N-Black Expo.

It was an incredible feeling, being able to push "Crys The Fabulous Watson" or the abbreviated "CTFW", when it was just a blog that was created to be a creative outlet for me and a distraction to help me get over an ex-boyfriend almost 2 years ago (ha!)!

I gave personal styling tips, promoted my affordable personal style consulting services, and was able to network with fashion boutiques, women's non-profits, and pampering services.
This event was totally up my alley because it was all about encouraging women to be their incredible selves, all around, from the inside and out!

I think that people fail to realize that displaying your fabulous personal style makes a huge impact on yourself and the others around you. When you look amazing, you feel amazing which makes others want to be in your amazing presence!

This inspired me to give my Top 5 Tips on how to always stay on top of your
Personal Style game!

1) Know your shape!
Once you find out your shape, get to work on knowing what will flatter your figure and will make you look like SpongeBob Square Pants. Knowing your shape will also make it easier for you to filter the latest trends and make them your own. You always want to look nice and trim!

2) Try Something New!
The trick to evolving your personal style is snagging a "wild card" piece with you when you're out shopping. What's the worst that could happen?
Heads: You look fabulous and you've now upgraded your style game.
Tails: It looks awful and now you know what pattern/style/color to stay away from.
It's a win win situation!

3) Stop Wearing Grey!
Can you ever think of a time when you've heard someone say that grey was their favorite color? ...and if they did tell you that it was their favorite color, didn't you kind of feel bad for them and offer to buy them a pink sugar cookie?
Exactly! Grey has to be one of the most unfabulous colors in the crayon box!
Never have I seen this color truly compliment a person's skin tone or brighten up a person's mood. Opt for black, white, or colors; whether it be for work wear or off duty.
#CrysTip:
Get out of the "Grey Area" in your relationships, career, and love life!
You're welcome.

4) Behind Every Fabulous Girl is a Fabulous Tailor
I have stated this many times on numerous posts!
I am a firm believer in tailors and I am a huge fan in the work that they do for me, from hemming my vests from a thrift shop trip to replacing dull buttons on a classic coat.
It's the easiest way to get that Tom Ford fit on a Target budget!
Looking tailored screams quality, I'm important, and "Oh, I valeted my car" lol!
#CrysTip:
Look to yelp for the best tailor in your area and befriend them stat!

5) Always Keep an Emergency Wardrobe Kit on Hand
What's awesome about being a wardrobe stylist is always having my awesome styling kit with me.
Now I know the average woman may not need to keep a steamer in their car, but they most definitely need to keep double-stick tape, safety pins, makeup sponges(awesome for getting rid of deodorant marks!), a lint roller, wet wipes, and a Tide To-Go eraser!
These little God-Sends are must-haves for every fabulous girl on the go.
Keep them in your purse or in your car
#CrysTip:
I'm a huge fan of the Minimergency Kit! They fit into almost every purse and they even have them for men for only $16!

Event Fab x 8 Great Tips on How To Network

The Power of Networking!

Saturday evening, I had the pleasure of hosting my
3rd Annual
"New Me, New Year 1st Saturday of The Year"
Dinner!
The dinner took place at Lock & Key and was filled with young professionals enjoying signature cocktails, h'orderves, and complimentary Peanut Brittle from SS Sweet Pot!

Well into the dinner, I couldn't help but stand back and observe the scene. I felt beyond grateful to have such positive, influential people in my life. Some acquired through mutual friends, a few through work/school, and an important number of them through networking and social media.

This lead me to think about the power of networking and networking through social media.
I must say that if it weren't for this guy, here...
I wouldn't have gotten to the place that I am now in my life and career.
So many people say that
(in my K. Michelle voice)
"social media is the Devil".
However, when used the right way, it can be your very best friend!

The power of networking is incredible!
So many connections were made at my dinner, which means an increase in each party's exposure, brand, and revenue!

I am a major advocate of networking and every so often I run into some people who ask for my advice on how to network!

I came across these 8 fabulous tips on How to Network that I just had to share!

These 8 tips will guarantee you a prosperous
New Year!

Trend Fab: Bomber Jackets

Bomber Jacket Trend

Spring Trend Alert!

You're probably saying to yourself
"Crys, newsflash, it's NOT SPRING YET!"
I completely agree with you, but here's a
#CrysTip
A great deal of my job has to do with researching future fashion trends, so what I like to do is search for wearable fashion forward pieces that I can include in my current seasonal wardrobe. It's the most cost effective way to stay on top of the latest trends!

It's the beginning of January and it's chilly outside, why not stay ahead of the trend world in these Spring 2014 Bomber Jackets!?

I absolutely adore the floral prints and whimsical designs!
I fancy these feminine bomber jackets because you can dress them up or down and the final look will always come out stylish!

Top off your flowing skirt and pumps with a bomber jacket for a flirty feminine look, or add one to your harem pants and hoodie for a sporty playful look!

The Look For Less
I've gathered some of my FAV&FAB Bomber Jackets, inspired by the S14 Tracy Reese Collection, that are suitable for any Deal-seeking Darling's or Bombshell Baller's closet!

10 Tips on How to Kick Off & Maintain your New Years Resolutions!

New Years Resolutions!

Oh boy...
How many times have we jotted down our New Years Resolutions in our smart phone notes, wasted hours on a vision board, only to carry out those resolutions for about 3-4 weeks, pick them back up once summer started to arrive, and then said "To hell with them!" after we realized that WingStop had too tight of a grip on us!?!

Well this time will be different!
(How many times have we said that?!)

No, seriously!

These are no longer New Years Resolutions, these are New Year Commitments!
This year, I will commit to becoming a Yogi & a better driver
(no hit parked cars in 2014!)

It'll be tough, but once I commit, I stick to it!

Below are some of the most common New Years Resolutions that I came across that are made and then broken!

Check them out because they are also followed by solutions on how to maintain these resolutions!

Enjoy!

Resolution #1: I will lose weight.
How to make it work: Be more specific. How much weight do you want to lose? What is your time frame for reaching these goals? The more specific you are, the more likely you will be able to reach them. More importantly, make sure that you have a specific diet plan to fulfill this resolution. Here’s an example: “I will only eat half a cup of rice per meal and more vegetables.” The next thing you know, you are already two sizes smaller.
#CrysTip
Just eat vegetables, fruit, and drink a lot of water with lemon in it,
you're welcome!

Resolution #2: I will go to the gym.
How to make it work: Feeling guilty during the holiday binge, some people tend to sign up for gym memberships only to end up wasting them. If you have never stepped foot in a gym for the past six months, chances are it won’t change this coming year. There are plenty of ways to exercise outside the gym, from trying a sport to following fitness videos. If you don’t have time for both, you can start with this resolution: “I will take the stairs at work or when I’m out and about.” That will definitely burn some calories.

Resolution #3: I will save more money.
How to make it work: It’s easy to say this at the start of the year, but not when you are faced with a beautiful pair of shoes, or while you are hanging out at your favorite coffee shop. Skip the items you don’t need and watch your savings grow. Here’s a resolution that you can make: “I will drink coffee at home instead of buying that expensive latte.”

Resolution #4: I will never be late again.
How to make it work: This resolution requires breaking a habit by replacing it with another one. Make concrete steps -- sync your watches and clocks to follow the Philippine standard time. Sleep early. Set your alarm an hour earlier than you intend to wake up, and make this resolution: “I will stop hitting the snooze button.”

Resolution #5: I will keep my house clean and organized.
How to make it work: If you have always been disorganized, chances are you will have a hard time fulfilling this resolution. Start small by telling yourself: “I will organize my closet this Saturday.” Continue by cleaning other parts of your room until you finish the entire house.

Resolution #6: I will stop smoking.
How to make it work: Going cold turkey is not the most effective way for most people who want to stop smoking. Take baby steps instead – if you usually smoke two packs of cigarettes a day, reduce it by half. Here’s an example: “I will only smoke one pack of cigarettes a day.” After a few weeks, take it a step further by cutting the number of cigarettes you smoke daily to half a pack. The next thing you know, you won’t even miss it.

Resolution #7: I will spend less time on Facebook, Twitter, etc.
How to make it work: This is another tricky resolution to make, especially if you already have the habit of checking your social media pages throughout the day. Try this resolution instead: “I will not check my Facebook, Twitter and other social media accounts when I’m outside the house, unless it’s really important.” If this is too much for you, start with keeping your phone during meals. Less screen time will help you cultivate and maintain relationships with the people around you.

Resolution #8: I will be more concerned about the environment.
How to make it work: You don’t have to be a vegetarian to express your concern for Mother Earth. All you need is to change a few habits, from turning off lights and appliances that are not in use to using recycled items. Here’s another example to help you get started: “I will bring my own water bottle to work or school.”

Resolution #9: I will start dating other people.
How to make it work: You cannot just decide to go out and date the first person you meet. It is not only dangerous – it will also make you look desperate. Make this resolution instead: “I will go out and make an effort to meet new people.” Making yourself more “visible” will boost your chances of finding a long-term partner. If it doesn’t work out, you still end up having more friends.

Resolution #10: I will spend more time with my family.
How to make it work: This may be hard for career-oriented people to fulfill. Free up some time to spend with your family by making this concrete resolution: “I will have dinner at home with my family every Sunday.” This will lessen the chances of you working overtime or accidentally scheduling a night out with friends.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Wow!
Where has the time gone?
It's the 1st day of the New Year and I've never felt more grateful and fabulous!

So many wonderful things have happened in 2013 for me, such as:

Becoming the Fashion Expert for Jcpenney, adding fashion show coordinator and head stylist to my resume.
I also had the pleasure of styling and giving free wardrobe makeovers to customers that were on a tight budget.

Shooting the 2nd season of Let The Girls Talk

& doing our 1st Q&A after the preview of our very first webisode!

Of course, I've made some bad decisions and ended up having to do community service(booooooo!)

Taking on numerous styling gigs

Then I decided to quit my position at Jcpenney, follow God's plan for my life, & pursue my dreams!
One of the toughest decisions that I've ever made in my life, but I must say, that it was one of the best decisions that I've ever made!

I have always been passionate about helping others!
Combining my love for fashion, fabulous décor, and giving was the 1st step!

I was so blessed to be able to put together the
"Holiday Shop, Sip, & Give Soiree"
 with my partner Kianna Shann!

& with Hair Stylist, Sherice Loren, & MUA, Urban Glam Gyrl!

So much more has happened and there's so much more to look forward to in 2014!

#CrysTip
Never wait for the new year for a new start, to leave the non sense behind you, or to challenge yourself!
You control your life!
Go to church more, give without expecting, look fabulous, & get in the best shape of your life!

Cheers!
